Ibn Abbas told, that this verse was revealed regarding the three tribes, namely, Amir, Kinanah, and Bani Salamah, they are the people who worship idols, and they said, "The angels are the daughters of Allah", and they also said as quoted by his words, "We do not worship them only that they get closer to God with us in close."
