How to improve yourself and make your life better, from an Islamic perspective. Tazkiyyatul-nafs. Self Devleopment.
The Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) also said, whoever supplicates Allah to send salaat on me once, Allah will send salaat upon him TEN TIMES. What does salaat mean? He also said: Surely, among the best of your days is Friday; so increase in (invoking Allah's) Salaat upon me during it, for your (invocations for Allah's) Salaat (upon me) will be displayed to me. Fill your Fridays with salaat insha'Allah and reap the reward in the akhira.
Most people see the black dots, not the white dots--the negative. Allah says: And few of my servants are thankful... How can we be thankful--especially on Hajj, when we see so many trials around us? People getting wronged left and right, 30-minute line-ups for washrooms, buses that come hours upon hours late ... how can we learn to see the white dots that we know are there?
Successful are the believers, those who offer their salaah with khushoo. What does this really mean? It means to establish the salaah, fully and properly, on time, and to pray with full khushoo--not quickly or lazily. And this is our purpose--because Allah said, He did not create humans and Jinn EXCEPT to worship him. So establish salaah--because you never know when your time will come.
Following the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) is a means for us to gain Allah's Love, but what is the difference between following him and obeying him? Obeying him (صلي الله عليه وسلم) is doing what he commanded and staying away from what he prohibited while following him is the next level--it is adhering to his sunnah out of love for him and wanting to do acts that are not fard upon us just because the Prophet did them. Some examples are ...
Fear Allah’s Punishment but Hope for His Mercy
Ibn Al-Qayyim said: the heart, in its journey towards Allah, is like a bird--the head is love, the two wings are hope and fear; when the head is sound, and the wings are balanced, it flies perfectly. What lessons can we learn from this great analogy of a worshipper of Allah? 'Umar ibn al-Khattab made two very powerful and deep statements about himself regarding this.
Al-Qantarah is a small arched bridge in the akhira. After the believers cross the Siraat, when the gates of Jannah are right in front of them, they will stop on the Qantarah. There, Allah will resolve all of their hurts and ills amongst each other. On that day, some of them will be bankrupt, truly bankrupt, and dragged back into Jahannam. Who are these bankrupt people?
