The Sweetness of Faith Lies in the Fruits of Knowledge
Fear the Creator, Fear the Creation?

"If you fear the creator, you will never fear the creation." -Imam Anwar al-Awlaki
If your heart trembles in fear of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) and awe of His majesty, nothing in the dunya (world) can ever overshadow that fear. The dunya can throw a bigger army at you, better weapons, everything and anything. And if you fear Allah the way He deserves to be feared, none of that can overshadow your fear of the Creator.
By the way, taqwa, commonly translated as "fear", means to fear something in order to protect yourself from it. Wallahu 'alim.

Taqwa is fear and love. It is as though you fear someone you love. You fear them getting angry if you screw up.

Jazakullahu khayr. We often neglect the love aspect when we talk about taqwa.
‘Umar ibn Al-Khattab, radiallahu ‘ahn, said to the meaning of: “Have you ever walked through a thorny path and held your clothes around you so they don’t shred? That’s like taqwa.”

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa’rahmatullahi wa’baraktuhu
From a book I read titled “Two Treatises: Mutual Reminding and Good Manners” by Imam al-Haddad:
‘Imam al Ghazali has said, “Taqwa in the Quran has three meanings. First is fear and a sense of awe. The second includes obedience and worship. Third is freeing the heart from sins, which is the reality and essence of taqwa. In summary, taqwa is to guard oneself from the anger of God and His punishment by fulfilling His commandments and abstaining from what He has made prohibited. The reality of taqwa is that your Lord never sees you where He has forbidden you to be, nor does He miss you where He has commanded you to be. May peace be upon you’
Jazka’Allah khair
