Protect Your Dignity

With the Facebook craze that has struck us all in the past months, we have forgotten about a very serious matter that our beloved Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسل) talked about, and that matter being exposing of ones sins. We post messages on peoples walls, we post up pictures and what not, and its all exposing our sins to the public. We should be very cautious of the environment and inshallah try our best to protect our own dignity but also the dignity and respect of our brothers and sisters. This is not only apparent through the Facebook craze but also through general interactions of Muslims today.
My brothers and sisters, I love you for the sake of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) and I only write this as sincere advice to myself and to you all. The following hadith will put things in to focus for us all:
The Messenger of Allah (صلي الله عليه وسلم) said: "My entire nation is safe, except al-Mujahirin (those who boast of their sins). Among the Mujaharah is that a man commits an (evil) act, and wakes up in the morning while Allah has kept his (sin) a secret, he says: "O so-and-so! Last night I did this and that." He goes to sleep while Allah has kept his (sin) a secret but he wakes up in the morning and uncovers what Allah has kept a secret!" [Saheeh al-Bukhari]
Abdullah Ibn Masoud (رضي الله عنه) related, "A man came to the Prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I have mingled with a woman in the far side of al-Medina, and I fulfilled my desire short of actually having sexual intercourse with her. So, here am I, judge me according to what you decide.' Umar Ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) then said: 'Allah had kept your secret, why did not you keep your secret?" [Sharh Muslim]
May Allah (صلي الله عليه وسلم) give us the ability to understand and obey.

facebook indeed is a fitna, but for many reasons. inshaAllah may we all be granted the tawfiq to not only hide our sins, but minimize them with the intent to eliminate. ameen.

Facebook can also be used for positives–starting groups to support Muslims detained unjustly, or even just for spreading the deen of Allah (even to non-Muslims).

May Allaah Ta’ala protect us from the trials of this life and the hereafter.
My Message: How can something which is abundant in Haraam and immorality, can be justified for doing something Halaal?
The Deen of Allaah is spread with wisdom.
It is stated in the hadeeth: “Whoever seeks to please Allaah by (doing something that is) displeasing (to) the people, Allaah becomes pleased with him and makes the people pleased with him. And whoever seeks to please the people by (doing something that is) displeasing (to) Allaah, Allaah becomes displeased with him and makes the people displeased with him.” [1]
Footnotes:
[1] Reported by Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh (1/435) and At-Tirmidhee in his Sunan (7/133) in a similar narration, both on the authority of ‘Aa’ishah; Others reported it as well.

I Ask Allaah Ta’ala to Keep Us Firm Upon The Qur’aan & The Authentic Sunnaah, Upon the Understanding of the Salaf Us-Saalih.

Allahu ‘alim, Facebook is not inherently halal or haraam. Rather, it is a means–like a car. A vehicle. You can drive it to the masjid, to places of knowledge and learning, or you can drive it to the clubs, to the prostitute houses.
The choice is in the hands of the driver.
Personally, I’ve seen lots of people add Ilm Fruits RSS feeds, so entire legions get spammed every time there’s a new post =]

^ yeah, in sha Allah its a site that you can use for dawah, e.g. sending out invitations to AlMaghrib classes, importing blogs into notes, etc.

Wasalam my dear brothers..personally i think the muslims needs to be on facebook to speak out against the evil…its our duty…and by running away we are not doing justice to this deen
but i think the car analogy given by ilm seeker is well put…its ultimately upto the person themself
may Allah protect us all from any danger that could come out of it.
