Salaamalaykum, do you think that perhaps you could do a posting on effective means of doing charity. I think a lot of us in the west don’t give charity because we don’t see the “poor” people. Rather we see donation boxes and masjid donatathons. My recommendations for people would be to go out and find the people in need. An awesome place to start would be with your local imam. Other places are Muslims Welfare Centres and Muslims Social Workers. Try to find women who are single mothers (i.e. - divorced/widowed/abandoned) or students who are struggling financially or families where the primary breadwinner has a terminal illness or disability or even the homeless. May Allaah help us increase in good deeds both in this blessed month and through out the year.
