@mummyjaan, you're absolutely correct; this is the theory put forward by other scholars, such as shaykh Waleed Basyouni and others--that the results of our own leaving the deen, resulted in our blood being cheaper than dogs.

Wallahu 'alam.

You say: {And this is a stern warning to all those who are oppressing and torturing and killing Muslims in the land. Don’t think you’re fighting against some passive God. Allah has already destroyed waves of nations more powerful than you. It’s not a question of “can He?” It’s more like “when?”}

Could the 'torture and killing of Muslims' in various lands not be interpreted in another way - could it not be seen as the athaabe-ilaahi (punishment from God) for forgetting their religion, becoming selfish and wordly and not attending to good deeds as is expected of them and becoming spiritually bankrupt?

Just wondering.

Also interesting is the ayah: inna batsa rabbika la shadeed, the batsh (severe pulling/ripping) of your lord is severe. This is food for thought for those of us with our eyes on Palestine and Kashmir and other Muslim lands that are under occupation.
