So in either case, you benefit inshallah. Subhanallah, here is what I heard one of the sheikh saying:

Whats even more amazing is with Istikhara, Allah takes care of our 'needs' not just our wants! as long as we put our trust in Him first and foremost. May Allah make us amongst His righteous Abds.
