It comes down to Allah's attributes--he is all-knowing, all powerful. And who knows the creation better then the Creator?

i think instead of 'scientific' reasons... the explanation should answer the question: "Why must we do things Allah tells us to do even though they may not seem harmful?"

MashaAllah,Like your choice on how to express our faith to others.
Ps. Its always good to give the reasoning behind what we do if we know that too. If reasoning is not in the Quran some is bound to be somewhere among the Sunnah but yea overall we do what we do for Allah (SWT).

May Allah bless you,ameen.

I find that for kids and for those who are new in Islam (and maybe even those Old in Islam lol), it is often helpful to understand the wisdoms behind the prohibitions, because they or we might not be at the level where we realize that Allah knows best

It was narrated the Ali Bin Abi Talib (May allah be pleased with) said:

لو أن المسألة تخضع للعقل .. لكان المسح على باطن القدم أولى من المسح على ظاهره

If it was to the mind (logic), it would have been more logical to do Masseh (Wipe) the bottom of the Khuf (what is worn in the feet) instead of the top.

Shaykh Sha'arawi added:

This is because the bottom is what gets dirty. The process is for preparing oneself to come to Allah SWT, so one should not come to Allah SWT with any arguments , as Allah SWT is not asked about what He does or what He commands ...
