SubhanAllah! Jazakum Allahu Khayran...May Allah guides us to righteousness like of those whom he has favored.

Surah Qaf: (15) We verily created man and We know what his soul whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein. (16) When the two Receivers receive (him), seated on the right hand and on the left, (17) He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready. (18) And the agony of death cometh in truth. (And it is said unto him): This is that which thou wast wont to shun.

Jazakallahu khair. This is indeed a very beneficial reminder, especially the examples from the lives of the Salaf. Your point about us sometimes changing our behavior even when we're not fully sure if someone is watching is very true.

And those verses from Surah Qaaf are very powerful too subhanAllah. I pray we can internalize these reflections and filter our actions and thoughts.

Some points of benefit from the tafseer of those verses that my teacher went over:
- most of the time even we forget what our nafs or qareen whispered to us at some point in the past, but Allah SWT knows all! Not just what we did, but what was going through our minds.
- Allah has deputed his malaikah to record everything that we do - they are qa'eed - fixed and saddled there forever, following us wherever we go.
- these verses and the following ones point to the unbreakable connection between this life and the next, that we will be held accountable for our actions. What is this connection? Everything is recorded!
- the more we learn about dar-al-akhirah, the more pervasive it's influence will be on our daily actions.

"Is he then unaware that Allah seeth?"

InshAllah pray for me too that I can become aware of Allah's omnipresence and remember my Lord in every thing that I do. Amin.

Jazakhallah,
